Enclosed Auto Transport

If you have an exotic, vintage, or expensive car, enclosed transport may be the best solution to ship your car. If you want to eliminate nearly all risk of any unexpected dings, dents, or blemishes to your car, the safest option is enclosed auto transport...

Preparing Your Car to Be Shipped

Preparing your car to be shipped is the most important step in the whole process. It is simple and should not consume much time; however, it can make a significant impact on the auto transport process. Take fifteen to twenty minutes to make sure everything is perfect with your car before the auto transporter picks it up.

Here are some key things to do before the shipper picks up your car:

  • Remove any valuables or anything you may need from your car! Remember, once your car is on the truck, you won’t be able to access it until it is delivered. Also, removing any valuables eliminates the threat of someone breaking into your vehicle.
  • Wash your car and empty your gas to a little bit less than a quarter tank. Washing your car will make it easier to identify any cosmetic issues with your car during pick up and delivery. Emptying your gas tank allows the weight the auto transporter carriers to be less, thus costing you and them less!
  • Inspect your car for dinks, dents, and scratches. Once you find all of the blemishes, write them down in detail, noting their location and severity. At pick up the driver will look for any damages and note it in their “Vehicle Condition Report”. You can then sign this to confirm if their findings are correct.
  • Disable your alarm system. This will allow the transporter to transport your car without accidently triggering your alarm and not being able to/knowing how to turn it off.

Once you compete these steps, your car should be ready to transport. During pick up, remember to ask the driver any last minute questions you may have to ensure that you are completely answered in all aspects.
